Steps to apply for Aadhar Card Online and Offline
UIDAI is the one that collects the data of the individuals through enrollment centers. Nevertheless, in few states, the data is collected by National Population Register (NPR) which will later be sent to UIDAI for scrutiny.
Step 1
Select your enrollment center through UIDAI portal.
Step 2
Download the Aadhar Card Enrollment form from the UIDAI portal or get it from the nearest enrollment center.
- Download the Aadhar Card Enrollment Form from the web portal of UIDAI or go get a form from the nearest Enrollment center.
- Fill up the form with your particulars like name, guardian details, address, date of birth etc.
- Enter your in-use mobile number and email address in the slots provided.

Step 3
Go to enrollment center for bio metric and form submission
- Visit the enrollment center and make sure to carry important documents along with the enrollment form like proof of identity, proof of address etc.
- If address proof is not available that includes the name of the applicant (if minor), head of the family or guardian can introduce the member using his/her existing Aadhar card.
- The mobile number should be provided carefully as it will be of much use later. The status messages of Aadhar will be sent to the registered mobile number only.
- Individuals need to give their fingerprints for bio metric scanning and eye scanning for iris scanning and a photograph. The process will take about 10 to 15 minutes overall and in the end, an enrollment slip will be given to the applicant that contains the enrollment number and enrollment date and time. Make sure to keep the slip safe as it shall be used to check a status of Aadhar number, generation of e-Aadhar etc in the future.
Step 4
Verifying the Aadhar Data
- After the enrollment, the data collected from the individual will go through multiple levels of scrutiny to avoid duplication and errors. The entire process will take about 60 to 90 days. Nevertheless, as we said earlier, if it is through NPR it will take more time.
- On successful completion of data verification, Aadhar number will be generated and will be sent to the individual through SMS. The original Aadhar card will be sent to the applicant’s address through speed post within 3 to 5 weeks.
- In case if you found anything wrong in the data present on the card, you need to visit the enrollment center with the enrollment slip to correct it and to re-submit the form.
- Once the Aadhar card has been issued, an individual can anytime generate an e-Aadhar from the official web portal of UIDAI i.e., uidai.gov.in.
