Well, CLAT is a nationalized test conducted for giving admission to talented and deserving students in 17 National Law Universities. CLAT was first conducted in the year 2008, and since then, lakhs of students appear for the exam every year. Yes! And this time its yet again for 2016’s batch. CLAT 2016 Notification has been out on the official website www.clat.ac.in, and the organizing institution invites application from all interested candidates from first week of January, 2016. So, if you are ready to apply for the examination, then take a look into the details of the examination first. Here it comes.
Basic Examination Details – Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT) 2016:
- Organizing Institution: Rajiv Gandhi National University Of Law(RGNUL), Patiala.
- Name Of Examination: Common Law Entrance Test, 2016.
- Type Of Exam: Entrance Test/ Admission Test.
- Purpose Of Examination: Admission in National Law Universities.
- Courses Offered: Under Graduate(UG), Post Graduate(PG) and Integrated Courses in Law.
- Selection Mode: Based On Written Test and Merit List.
- Applying Mode: Online.
- Exam Centres: All Indian States.
Eligibility Criteria – CLAT Application Form Notification 2016 :
- Eligibility Criteria- Age:
- There is no upper age limit for CLAT 2016 as per the order from Supreme Court Of India.
- Eligibility Criteria-Educational Qualification:
- For Under-Graduate(UG) Courses: Candidates applying for UG courses must have 12th/Higher Secondary Passing Certificate with at least 45% marks(40% Marks for SC/ST). Also candidates who are appearing 12th exam in 2016 can also apply.
- For Post-Graduate(PG) Courses: Candidates applying for UG courses must have LLB/Integrated LLB Course Passing certificate with at least 55% marks(50% Marks for SC/ST). Also candidates who are appearing in final exam of the above said courses in 2016 can also apply.
Exam Pattern And Subject-Wise Marks Distribution – Common Law Entrance Test 2016:
- Exam Pattern:
- For UG Admissions: Total Marks is 150, and the written exam will be conducted for 2 hours. Multiple Choice Questions(MCQs) will be asked.
- For PG Admission: Total Marks is 200, and the written exam will be conducted for 2 hours. Multiple Choice Questions(MCQs) will be asked.
- Note: 0.25 Marks will be cut from Total Marks for a single wrong answer
- Subject-Wise Marks Distribution:
- For UG: English with comprehension(40 marks), GK(50 Marks), Elementary Mathematics(20 Marks), Legal Aptitude( 50 Marks) and Logical Reasoning(40 marks).
- For PG: Constitutional Law(50marks), Jurisprudence(50 marks) and Other Miscellaneous Law Subjects(50 marks)
Application Fee And Online Application Form – CLAT 2016 Examination :

- For General/UR Category Candidates: Rs.4000/-.
- For Reserved Category(ST/SC) Candidates: Rs.3500/-.

- Online application form for CLAT 2016 examination will be available on its official website clat.ac.in. Mostly, application form will be rolled out in the official website from 1st week of January.
How To Apply Online – Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT) 2016:
- Login to their official website www.clat.ac.in.
- Click On “CLAT 2016” option.
- Register Online and start filling up the application.
- Upload photo and signature, and pay the application fees online before due date.
- Submit the application form, and save the preview mode of application form for future reference.
