On Friday, India and South Africa has signed eight memorandum of understandings (MoUs) leading in increased cooperation in a wide range of areas between two nations. The MoUs were singed at South Africa-India CEOs Forum on visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to South Africa. The agreement was made in areas like economic, political, social and international areas.

Joint issue of postage stamp by DoP, Portugal Post
Department of Posts and Portugal Post will issue joint postage stamps on the theme of folk dances, the Cabinet was informed today. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that “Our Post Department issues stamps with various other Postal Departments on themes. This time, we have to take the theme of folk dances. So, we picked up Dandiya of Gujarat and they have given their own dance. We are issuing Postal stamps on that theme.”
Kerala announces pension to transgenders above 60
Kerala government has announced pensions for transgenders who are above 60. Transgenders above 60 are going to receive monthly pension. State Finance Minster T.M. Thomas Issac made this proposal in the budget for 2016-17 in the Assembly with an aim to bring the marginalized to the forefront of the society. No particular number is mentioned yet though.
Government plans to clean 10 iconic places under Swachh Bharat Mission
Government is planning to clean 10 iconic places in the country under the Swachh Bharat Mission. The places that were chosen for this mission are Taj Mahal, Vaishno Devi temple, and Ajmer Sharif. Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that his ministry is in the process of selecting 100 iconic places for cleaning under the mission and most will be either tourist or religious spots.
Cyber cell set up to handle internet trolls
On Friday, Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi set up a cyber cell to handle trolls that harass women and children online. Maneka Gandhi said that “there will be no patrolling on the internet. The unit will only respond to complaints made through email.” Trolled people need to use hashtag#IamTrolledHelp if they are bulled/harassed/abused in online.
