Government sets up panel to create strategies on shortage of pulses
On Monday, the government has set up a pane to look upon the issue of shortage of pulses in the country. The panel decided to create long term strategies to address the issues of shortage of pulses in the country. The committee will submit the report regarding this matter within two weeks. The committee will be headed by Chief Economic Advisor, Arvind Subramanian.
Arunachal Pradesh to set up 21 women police stations
Arunachal Pradesh is set to set up 21 women police stations all over the state and will recruit 400 new staff to run the police stations. After the establishment of first women police station in 2013 in the capital of the state, the government has taken another initiation to start up multiple women police stations.
UP creates world record by planting 5 crore trees
UP has created a world record for planting as many as plants that no other country or place has ever planted in just 24 hours. The campaign started at 10 AM on Monday morning and this is an initiative taken by Forest Department in UP to plant 5 crore saplings in the state. By 9 AM it has completed its mission of planting 5 crore saplings all over the state. This fetched a Guinness World Record.
President Pranab on a three-day visit to Darjeeling
President of India, Pranab Mukherjee will leave to Darjeeling today for three-day visit where he will attend various events. The West Bengal government will host a state reception in honor of the President, late president will attend the birthday anniversary celebrations of ‘Shri Bhanubhakta Acharya’.
Alappuzha, Panaji and Mysuru cleanest cities in India
Alappuzha, Panaji and Mysuru were named as the cleanest cities in India in a survey conducted by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE). Alapuzha has not participated in the Swachh Survekshan because of the population criteria, but it managed to take place in three best cleanest cities as per the survey.
Bihar signs MoU with Bangkok firm for disaster risk reduction
As part of programmes to implement the Roadmap for Disaster Risk Reduction in Bihar, the state government on Monday signed a MoU with Bangkok-based Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC). Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that this MoU will help reduce disaster risk management in the state.
India’s first smart grid to set up in Gurgaon
The Union government has set in motion the process of rewarding performing states under Uday, the flagship programme in power sector. It would extend support to the country’s first smart grid project to be set up in Gurgaon in Haryana, which has been a performing state under the debut restructuring programme for state-owned power distribution companies.
US Water park is the world’s tallest water coaster
The Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Water Park in Galveston, Texas USA is the world’s tallest water coaster as per the Guinness World Records. The coaster was named ‘MASSIV’ and is 24.86 meters tall was built in celebration of the parks’ 10th anniversary.
