Delhi Government to set up 300 dengue clinics
Delhi Government has decided to set up 300 dengue clinics to handle dengue cases in the city as 40 cases have been noted so far. Tests for dengue will be carried out in these clinics and primary treatment will be provided too.
Cabinet approves disinvestment in NBCC
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affair has approved the disinvestment of 15% paid-up equity in NBCC India Ltd out of 90% government’s shareholding. The disinvestment is expected to rise up to 1,706 crore. NBCC has interests in construction, engineering, and project management.
G-20 labour ministers decided to encourage entrepreneurship
G-20 nations that includes 300 delegates that includes G20 members and invited countries, as well as representatives from international organizations gathered in Beijing for two-day G-20 Labour and Employment Ministerial Meeting which adopted an action plan to encourage entrepreneurship as it is identified as the major opportunity to increase employment among the young people.
NABARD to issue bond for irrigation fund
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) will be issuing 15-year bonds to raise Rs 20,000 crore for an irrigation fund. The bonds will be issued by next month according to NABARD. The fund raised will be used for irrigation of 19 lakhs heactars of land.
Government approves revival of 3 Urea units
Government gave its approval for revival of three closed fertilizer plants at Gorakhpur, Sindri and Barauni in UP, Jharkhand and Bihar respectively. This approval was made to meet the demand of eastern states and make India self-sufficient in urea output. The three urea units will be revived with the help of Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of Public Sector Units namely NTPC, CIL and IOCL.
India launches Operation ‘Sankat Mochan’
India has launched operation Sankar Mochan to evacuate about 600 stranded Indians in war-torn South Sudan. Minister of State for External Affairs, General V K Singh is in charge of this mission. Two C-17 Globemaster aircraft has been sent to Juba.
IPS A K Patnaik appointed as Natgrid CEO
Senior IPS officer A K Patnaik was appointed as CEO of Natgrid, which is an integrated intelligence grid. He will be in charge of Natgrid as a CEO till December 2018. Natgrid is the one that is responsible for connecting databases of core security agencies.
Cabinet approves Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana
Cabinet has given green signal to Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) with a budget of Rs. 12000 crore. This yojana aims at imparting skill training to 1 crore people in next four years to come. This scheme will train 60 lakh youths and certify skills of 40 lakh persons who have acquired non-formal training.
Cabinet amends Citizenship Rules 2009
The Union cabinet has amended Citizenship Rules 2009. The cabinet approved to extend facilities to the persons that fall in minority communities of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan who stay on Long Term Visa in India. Foreign migrants can now open bank accounts, get PAN card, Aadhaar and driving licence.
