CBDT inks 7 Unilateral APAs with Indian taxpayers
The Central Bureau of Direct Taxes has singed seven Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs) with Indian taxpayers. The APAs also have a rollback provision. The agreements were made various sectors like banking, IT, automotives etc. The international transactions covered in the agreements include software development services, IT-enabled services, engineering design services and business support services.
Paul Romer appointed as World Bank Chief Economist
The World Bank Group has appointed Paul Romer as Chief Economist. He will take charge of the position form September, 2016. He is an Economist and entrepreneur who is currently working as a professor at New York University.
Netherlands and UP signs MoU to set up skill development centre for farmers
Netherlands and Uttar Pradesh signed a MoU to start up a skill development centre to help farmers. The MoU is about ensuring farmers to receive info on food processing and use of modern techniques to improve the production of sugarcane, potato, flowers etc. Dutch government will also help UP in educating farmers in urban development, solid waste management and infrastructure. It will also help in the cleaning initiative taken by government of the river Yamuna in Agra.
Dabur Signs MoU with DRDO to promote cultivation of rare medicinal plants
Dabur India has signed a MoU with the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) Defense Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR). The agreement is made to foster sustainable cultivation of rare medicinal plants in Ladakh. Farmers will be given free saplings of rare medicinal plants and herbs.
Taiwan bus bursts into flames, killing 26 people
A Taiwan tour bus carrying tourists from China hit a highway railing on its way to airport and burst into flames. In this incident, 26 people were killed who were on board. The tourists were going on a 8 day tour organized by a travel agency in China’s north-eastern province of Liaoning.
Pema Khandu is the new Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh
Son of the late Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, Pema Khandu has sworned in as the 10th Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday after Nabam Tuki resigned from his post of CM. He became the youngest Chief Minister in the country at the age of 37. Chowna Mein was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state.
Centre has released Rs. 28,022 crore under MGNREGA
The centre has released Rs. 28,022 crore this year to states under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) to clear the last year liabilities and to run the ongoing programs of the year.
