Union Finance Minster Arun Jaitley has called for more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). He has also emphasized on the stable and credible tax system. He gave the call for more FDI when he was addressing a memorial lecture at Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Memorial Lecture in New Delhi.
India to host Kabaddi World Cup in October
India is going to host the prestigious world cup of Kabaddi this year in October. Total of 12 countries will be participating in the World Cup of Kabaddi like USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Iran, Poland, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Korea, Japan and Kenya. India started winning gold medals in Kabaddi since it has become a part of Asian Games in the year 1990. The World Cup will be broadcasted live in Star Sports.
Suresh Prabhu flag off Tripura Sundari Express
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has flagged off maiden broad-gauge train service between Agartala and Delhi. It will cover a distance of 2461 kms in 46 hours and 50 minutes. This is a passenger train and now Tripura will connect with national capital via Guwahati with the help of this train. The minster will also lay the foundation stone of the Agartala-Akhaura International Rail link Project.

Rani Nair set to be new CBDT Chairperson
Senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Rani Singh Nair is set to be appointed the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairperson as the present Chairperson Atulesh Jindal was retiring from the position. Nair is a 1979-batch IRS office and is presently working as member in CBDT.

Former Defence Minister Yuriko Koike has been elected governor of Tokyo. She is the first women to lead Japan’s capital. She received more than 2.9 million votes in election. One of her first duties is to travel to Rio de Janeiro to accept the Olympic flat as the next host.
Andhra Pradesh signs MoU with Japan to develop food value chain
The Andhra Pradesh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan to develop a food value chain in the state. Under the MoU, Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) will encourage direct investments by Japanese companies in the fields of agriculture and food-related industry in AP. Along with that, it will establish food industrial parks and develop cold chains.
GST to be simple with 1% additional tax removal
With the government dropping the contentious 1% additional inter-state tax, the proposed national sales tax or the GST stands simplified with aberrations removed.
