Guruprasad Mohapatra appointed as Chairman of AAI
Senior IAS officer Guruprasad Mohapatra has been appointed as Chairman of Airports Authority of India (AAI). Previously he worked as Joint Secretary in Union Ministry of Commerce for two years.
India’s first e-court opened at Hyderabad High Court
India’s first e-court was opened at High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad. It is a paperless court and is the common high court for the bifurcated states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The e-court was inaugurated by Supreme Court Judge Justice Madan B. Lokur who heads the e-committee of Supreme Court.
Indian Railways to install TRI-NETRA to reduce train accidents
Indian Railways has decided to start an initiative process of launching Terrain Imaging for Diesel Drivers-Infrared Enhanced Optical and Radar Assisted (Tri-NETRA) system to avoid train accidents. The system will be installed on locomotives for increasing the vision of Locomotive Pilots in inclement weather.

Commerce Ministry starts e-marketplace for goods procurement
Union Minster of State (MoS) Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman has launched an e-marketplace for online purchase of goods and services by various central government ministries and departments in New Delhi. Directorate General of Supplies and Disposals (DGS&D) has developed the portal which works under the Commerce Ministry and carries out the procurement.

Turkish musician Kudsi Erguner has been appointed as the UNESCO artist for Peace by the Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova. He was appointed after the opening ceremony of the 40th session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) held in Istanbul, Turkey.
India may need 1,850 new plans worth $250 bn in 20 years on policy boost
On Tuesday, Boeing Co said it expects Indian airlines to order 1,850 new aircraft worth $265 billion over the next 20 years. In March, the company had projected that demand from India would add up to orders for 1,740 planes over 20 years.
Rajya Sabha passes bill for Regional Biotechnology Centers
Rajya Sabha on Monday passed a bill for establishment of regional centers for biotechnology, under the auspices of UNESCO, in the National Capital Region. The bill is meant to establish a Regional Centre for Biotechnology, an institution of education, training and research, and declare it to be an institution of national importance.
Odisha aims to create 400 hectares new water area
The state government of Odisha has planned to create 400 hectares of new water area in private land this year. The government has also made a decision to provide 50 percent subsidy assistance to fish farmers for increasing of the inland fish production to meet the demand of the state and generate income of farmers.
