Center forms a panel to prepare a draft bill on Ganga river
Centre has formed a committee to prepare Draft Bill on Ganga to deal with all the issues related to the river. The committee will be headed by retired Justice Giridhar Malviya. The committee will submit its report within three months. The legislation will have provisions to ensure cleanliness and uninterrupted flow of Ganga.
Odisha power project got green signal
A state green panel was given first-stage clearance to Orissa Integrated Power Ltd (OIPL) for diverting 17.02 hectares of revenue forest land to set up 4,000 MW UMPP in Sundargarh district in Odisha at a cost of Rs.29,000 crore.

Kerala Tourism has won two gold awards at the prestigious Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) awards in recognition of its trendsetting marketing initiatives. The two gold medals were given for ‘Marketing Media’ and ‘Travel Advertisement Broadcast Media’ categories.
A film festival on Mother Teresa in India and abroad
The Mother Teresa International Film Festival (MTIFF), a film festival focusing on Mother Teresa’s life and teachings is going to be held at over 100 places in India and around 50 other countries. The festival will start from August 26 and will be carried out for next six months. The festival will be organized by World Catholic Association for Communication.

Corporation Bank has launched a new facility called ‘Green PIN’. This pin will generate Personal Identification Number for credit card holders. The facility enables credit card users to generate PIN online.

Maternal care mobile service launched by Rajasthan CM
Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has launched mMitra, a mobile voice message service that delivers weekly messages to families about pregnancy, family planning, nutrition, childbirth, and maternal and child care. The service will be available initially in 195 villages in Khanpur block of Jhalwar district on a pilot basis.
IRCTC joins hands with SBI to promote rail ticketing
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has joined hands with the State Bank of India (SBI) to prepare a detailed plan for promotion of rail ticketing activities, including internet ticketing and unreserved ticketing system. SBI has signed a MoU which will also handle the development of unreserved ticketing system and other services of same type.
