Lok Sabha passes bill for new NIT in Andhra Pradesh
Lok Sabha has passed the National Institute of Technology, Science, Education and Research Bill, 2016 to establish a National Institute of Technology in Andhra Pradesh. The bill is in keeping with the Andhra Pradesh reorganization act, 2014, which provides for a NIT for the state after its bifurcation as the exiting NIT went to Telangana. A total of Rs. 226 crore has been allocated for the institute establishment.

Daimler has announced plans to multiply the engineering workforce at its Bengaluru research facility. The facility that has Daimler’s second biggest team of dedicated software professionals will now become strategy hub for testing Daimlers’ plans for becoming a mobility services company.

The ministry of Science and Technology has come up with a ‘Solar Power Tree’ to generate electricity using solar power in a limited space. This is quite an innovative way to generate electricity. This Solar tree was developed by Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), Durgapur, a laboratory of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

China builds world’s largest Seaplane
China has completed building of the world’s largest amphibious aircraft after seven years of work. This seaplane is meant to perform marine rescue missions and fight forest fires. The Seaplane is named as AG600, which is about the size of Boeing 737 and was developed by state aircraft maker Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).

61 sports parks to come up in Ludhiana town
61 sports parks will soon come up in Ludhiana town for all age groups. Just ahead of assembly polls, around 61 parks are being constructed in the town that comprises just over 100 villages. Around Rs. 60 lakh is being spent on each of these parks.
