Odisha announces Rs. 60 lakh special incentive for Rio Olympic qualifiers
Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik has announced Rs. 60 lakh cash for six sports persons of the state who have qualified for the Rio Olympics 2016. The six sports persons who are eligible to receive the incentives declared by the government are Dutee Chand, Srabani Nanda, and four hockey players Deep Grace Ekka, Namita Toppo, Lilima Minz and Sunita Lakra.
Government approves Rs. 1,601 crores for Himayat programme in J&K
The Union Government has approved 1,600 crore rupees for Jammu and Kashmir under skill development initiative ‘Himayat’ programme. Under this Himayat programme, younglings from rural and urban areas of J&K would be given training in various job-intensive vocational courses over the next three years.
Lok Sabha passes child labour Amendment bill
The child labour (prohibition and regulation) Amendment Bill has been passed by Lok Sabha. The bill was first passed in Rajya Sabha earlier and later is passed in Lok Sabha during the monsoon session of Parliament. This bill will work towards prohibition of child labour who are under 14 years in all occupations except in family business and people who violated will be imprisoned up to two years.
Former diplomat Arundhati Ghose passes away
Prominent diplomat Arundhati Ghose has passed away at her residence in Delhi. She is 76 years old when she passed away. Ghose was a eminent citizen who led the Indian delegation at the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) negotiations in Geneva in 1996.
Talks on with private players to cover entire Delhi with Wi-Fi
The Delhi government is in talks with private players and is assessing various models to bring the entire national capital under Wi-Fi network in a year or two. Gajendra Haldea a member of the Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi (DDC) said that the government should be more of an ‘enabler’ in rolling out projects such as Wi-Fi.
Pharma sector receives Rs.4,975 crore FDI in FY16
The drugs and pharmaceuticals sector has received foreign direct investment (FDI) of Rs.4,975 crore in 2015-16. In the year 2014-15, FDI equity inflow of Rs 9,052 crore and in the year 2015-16, inflow of Rs 4,975 crore have been received the drugs and pharmaceutical sector.
MP Passes Bill to discourage open defecation
Madhya Pradesh passed a Bill mandating that those aspiring to contest Panchayat elections must have toilets with flush in their homes. The Assembly passed the Madhya Pradesh Panchayat Raj Evam Gram Swaraj Vidheyak 2016 through voice votes.
Uttarakhand to spend Rs.25 crore to search for Mythical herb near China border
Uttarakhand will soon begin a multi-million dollar search in the Himalayas for the mythical Sanjeevani Booti plant believed to hold life-saving properties. Uttarakhand will spend Rs.25 crore of tax-payers money to hunt for the herb that was referred as a potential live saving drug in Ramayan.
