1. Rajiv Mehrishi selected and appointed as Comptroller and Auditor General

Rajiv Mehrishi was selected and appointed as the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. Mehrishi who is retired as Union Home Secretary on 30 August 2017. Mehrishi will succeed occupant Shashi Kant Sharma who will finish his tenure on 23 September 2017. Sharma accepted the office of CAG in May 2013. Mehrishi is the first Home Secretary who finished his two-year tenure after the NDA government came to control.

2. Amazon to help actualize Karnataka’s Ksheera Bhagya Scheme

Amazon has declared a partnership with the Akshaya Patra Foundation to execute the Karnataka Government’s Ksheera Bhagya Scheme in the city. Under the plan, the school children of the city would be given a glass of milk every five days a week. This scheme ensures that children begin their day in school by drinking a healthy glass of milk, which is having protein and fat, essential for healthy development and all-round growth of children. The organization aims to reach with 170000 children crosswise over 1300 government schools in the state.

3. PV Sindhu becomes the First Brand Ambassador for Bridgestone India

Badminton ace PV Sindhu, who has won Silver at the World Championship, was appointed the first brand ambassador of tire producer Bridgestone India. The shuttle has contracted a three-year deal Bridgestone India, an auxiliary of Bridgestone who is one of the sponsors for the Olympics 2020 in Japan. The Padma Shri recipient became the first Indian lady to win an Olympic silver medal in the Olympic Games Rio 2016.

4. Rajiv Gauba Appointed as Union Home Secretary

Mr. Rajiv Gauba took control as Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Mr. Gauba has joined the Ministry of Home Affairs as Officer on Special Duty on June 27, 2017, and took responsibility as the Union Home Secretary upon the superannuation of Shri Rajiv Mehrishi. Mr. Gauba had also served in the International Monetary Fund for four years on the Board of IMF.

5. Lebanon gets first animal protection law

Lebanese President Michel Aoun has signed the nation’s first animal welfare bill into law, ensuring that domestic and wild animals will be legitimately protected from abuse. 8. Ahmedabad’s Walled City gets World Heritage City Certificate

The 600-year-old Walled City in Gujarat’s business capital Ahmedabad has formally agreed on the status of India’s 1^st World Heritage City by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova gave over the certificate to Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani declaring it as ‘World Heritage City’  in Gandhinagar. The walled city of Ahmedabad is the 1^st city in India to achieve World Heritage City status and third in Asia after Galle (Sri Lanka)and Bhaktapur (Nepal). India now has added up to 36 World Heritage Inscriptions 28 cultural, seven natural and one mixed sites. India is second after China in some world heritage properties in Asia and Pacific (ASPAC) area and overall seventh in the world.

9. National Nutrition Week: 1 to seventh September
