- Nirmala Sitharaman: India’s first full-time lady Defense Minister
Nirmala Sitharaman (58) turned out to be first full-time lady Defense Minister of India after she was promoted to the Union Cabinet. She assumes the responsibility of the essential ministry from Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Ms. Sitharaman is the second lady to become Defense Minister of India. Earlier it was former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who was holding additional portfolio as Defense Minister from 1980-82. Before her rise to Union Cabinet in NDA Government which is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she was Minister of State (MoS) for Finance and Corporate Affairs and Minister of Commerce and Industry with independent charge.
- Five banks of BRICS countries sign pact for credit lines
Five banks of BRICS Interbank Cooperation Mechanism (ICM) have agreed to set up local money credit lines and create cooperation using credit ratings. In such manner, they have signed to the arrangement in front of 9th BRICS summit to be held in Xiamen, China. These five banks are Brazilian Development Bank, Russia’s Vnesheconom Bank, Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM), China Development Bank and Development Bank of South Africa.

Tajikistan govt has restricted its ladies from wearing veils, and the govt has presented a legislation, wherein it has requested that the women “stick to traditional national clothes and culture.” The new legislation does not present a punishment for breaking the rule, but some have claimed that fines could be presented at a later date. Under existing laws, ladies wearing hijabs are now banned from entering the nation’s government offices.
