India and Mozambique sings three agreements
India and Mozambique have signed three MoU’s on issues like drug trafficking, pulse trading and sports. The first MoU is about purchase of pulses. The second agreement is on cooperation in the field of youth affairs and sports. The third agreement is on eradication and reduction of drug trafficking and psychotropic substances and related materials.
Google buys French startup Moodstocks to boost machine learning muscle
Search engine, Google has bought French machine learning startup named Moodstock. It has acquired the startup to improve the image recognition technology of its own smartphones whose APIs for developers have been described as ‘Shazam for images’.
India and South Africa sings MoUs in four areas of cooperation
India and South Africa have singed Memorandum of Understandings citing four areas of cooperation. The agreements were made between two countries in the areas of communication and technology, tourism, grass root innovation and art and culture.
India sets up apparel training center in Nigeria
India has set up an apparel training center in Nigeria with an intension to give a supporting shoulder to the textiles industry in West African country. This is the first centre that was set up under the partnership of both governments. The center was set up in Kaduna, Nigeria under the Cotton Technical Assistance Programme for Africa.
World Bank extends credit for Bihar Jeevika II
World Bank, Centre government and Bihar together have signed a USD 290-million credit agreement. This agreement was made to improve livelihood opportunities for poor in rural areas across 32 districts in the state of Bihar. Bihar Transformative Development Project also known as Jeevika II will divide the rural population into self-help groups and help them to gain access to a range of financial services from formal financial institutions.
Shimla’s Film festival on wildlife has begun
The much anticipated film festival on wildlife has begun in Shimla. This is a three-day Woodpecker Environment and Wildlife Film Festival that was held in Shimla. The organizers of the festival are WWF-India in collaboration with CMSR foundation, Delhi with the support of HP’s department of language, art and culture and department of forest.
RBI Permits Foreign investors to buy PNB Shares
RBI has lifted up the restrictions that it has placed on foreign investors who wanted to buy PNB shares. It has permitted the foreign investors purchase the shares of Punjab National Bank. The aggregate foreign share holdings by FI in PNB have now gone down the prescribed threshold caution limit.
Government started SUUTI Stake sale process
The government has started the process to sell its minority stakes that were held in many companies via Specified Undertaking of the Unit Trust of India (SUUTI). SUUTI has minority stakes in 51 companies and the companies include Axis Bank and ITC too.
Government launched Krishi Vigyan Kendras Portal
Agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh has launched an online web portal called Krishi Vigyan Kendra that was designed to monitor nearly 645 Krishi Vigyan Kendras. The KVKs are meant to analyze the agri-technology and demonstrate to farmer’s application. This web portal will provide information about all the schemes, market development and weather updates to the farmers.
