India’s first integrated defence communication network launched
The Defence Communication Network (DCN) has been inaugurated by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. It is the India’s first defence communication network that enables army, air force, navy and the Special Forces Command to share situational awareness to make faster decisions.
Attack in Dhaka’s diplomatic zone
Gunmen attacked a restaurant in the diplomatic quarter of the Bangladesi Capital Dhaka on Friday. 20 civilians were killed in Bangladesh café attack. Most of the people were killed on Friday night using sharp weapons. Six gunmen were killed and one gunman was taken into custody. 13 of the hostages were rescued from the café.
UNHRC adopts landmark resolution on access to medicines
On Friday, The UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has adopted a landmark resolution on access to medicines with an intension to examine the relation between intellectual property rights, trade agreements and access issues, which were sponsored by a group of developing countries, including India.
Marathi literary scholar RC Dhere passes away
Named Marathi literary scholar Dr. Ramchandra Chintaman Dehre passed away due to long time illness. He is now 86 and has taken his last breath in Pune. He is named and famed as a great literary scholar who has written 105 books based on his research work on various subjects.
Delhi to export heavy torpedoes to Vietnam
India is planning to export its new Varunastra anti-submarine torpedoes to Vietnam after completing their talks with the country for the sale of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles. This lets India maintain good military ties with Vietnam. It helps India both in military supplies as well as training of Vietnamese personnel on Kilo-class submarines as well as Sukhoi-30MKI fighters.
IAF to launch all its 20 Tejas by 2020
The first squadron of the Teja’s indigenous light combat aircraft with two jets has been launched yesterday. It is said that total launch of 20 Teja’s will be achieved by 2018. Even though it is inducted, it is not completely combat-ready. The full version of implementation will take some time and IAF will likely finish it off by 2020.
CCTV cameras to be installed in 1000 Railway stations
Railway Ministry has decided to install CCTV cameras in 1000 railway stations all around the country. The decision was taken citing recent alleged murder of a Chennai techie and few other cases. The CCTV footage will help investigate the incidents taking place at the stations. 500 crore rupees were allotted for installing CCTV cameras under Nirbhaya fund.
Russia and Turkey to work together on Syria
On Friday, the foreign ministers of Russia and Turkey said that they will coordinate their policies over Syria. The foreign minister said that “we can talk with Russia on every issue, positive or negative, because the dialogue that has been cut has restarted and our relations have begun returning to old days.”
Chennai Techie’s murdered arrested
The Chennai Techie Swathi death came as a blow for everyone. The murderer who killed Swathi in the Nangambakkam railway station has escaped from the scene immediately, which was recorded in a CCTV near the station. The accused is identified as Ram Kumar and was arrested from Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu.
