The Maharashtra State Electricity Board played a very vital role for Generations since long time by Transmitting & Distributing the Electricity in the State of Maharashtra excluding the area of Mumbai. But since the implementation of Electricity Act 2003, MSEB was divided into 4 organisations i.e., Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd. (Mahavitaran),MSEB Holding Co. Ltd., Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Co. Ltd. (Mahatransco)and Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. Ltd. (Mahagenco) on 6th June 2005. Presently Mahavitaran distributes electricity across the State excluding Mumbai.
