How to Prepare for UGC NET Exam
University Grants Commission has invited applications from the aspirants of the country to appear for National Eligibility Test (NET). UGC will be conducting the qualifying exam in the month of December to shortlist the candidates for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor posts. All the eligible and interested candidates are asked to apply for the positions on or before the last date of application submission. Candidates with Master’s degree are only eligible to apply for the available positions. UGC holds the exam twice in a year. It is the one of the exams that has heavy competition. So, aspirants need to prepare quite smart in order to crack it in the first attempt.
The exam is an objective type exam and will be taken by legions of contenders every year. The National Eligibility Test is conducted by University Grants Commission (UCG) national wide. Post graduation level students will be qualified for university level teaching jobs in India and also can opt for PhD level programmes by taking this exam. NET is conducted in Humanities, social sciences, forensic science, environmental sciences, computer science and applications and electronic science. Qualified candidates of UGC NET exam can settle as lecturers or Junior Research fellowship.
Exam Pattern
The exam is conducted in three papers. Below is the table of contents about the exam pattern.

Tips to prepare for UGC NET?
- A preparation always makes a difference. There will be heavy competition for NET exam and it is very important to make an effective preparation in order to sustain in the exam. The time plays a key role in preparation. To crack NET exam, it is very important to have at least three to six months time at hand. Prepare a timetable in such a way that you complete the syllabus in time and also you will be left with sometime in the end for revision.
- Get aware of the syllabus in first place. If you are perfect with the syllabus then you can know how to complete it. Mark the important topics and concentrate more on them. Make sure to cover all the topics without leaving anything.
- As we said earlier, there will be three papers. Out of three papers, two papers will be based on subjects of your choice while the other paper will be based on General awareness and aptitude. Make certain to have a good grip on the subjects as they are scoring. General awareness needs more attention so pay special attention on them.
- Practice the old papers and model papers as much as possible. You can learn time management by practicing as many papers as possible. Solve as many question papers as possible so that you will have good grip on the types of questions asked in the paper.
- Cut the crap out and study the important things. Take suggestions from your seniors who attempted and succeeded in UGC NET exam.
- Last but not the least, be confident. You can do it if you are determined.
