SSC CHSL Tier-2 Revised Exam Pattern

Staff Selection Commission every year conducts CHSL exam for the aspirants of the country.  This year, it has released notification welcoming applications for CHSL exam.  Many aspirants who are desperate to take CHSL exam under the commission have enrolled to take the exam.  SSC is going to conduct Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Tier-2 exam on 18^th, September, 2016.  It has released an official notification in which it has made some changes to the exam pattern.  The exam pattern of Tier 1 exam has also been changed and we have reported it to you earlier and now it is the turn for Tier 2 exam.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Very recently the commission has announced the CHSL Tier 1 exam 2015 results and immediately has issued a notification of CHSL Tier 2 exam.  All the qualified candidates of Tier 1 exam are eligible to take Tier 2 exam.  This year entire process of conducting CHSL exam has been changed.  Right from this year, the exam will be conducted in 3 Tiers.  Candidates need to qualify in both Tier 1 and Tier 2 in order to appear for Tier 3 exam.  Tier 1 exam is a descriptive exam and Tier 2 exam, which is going to be conducted soon is a writing skill checking exam that includes essay, letter and application writing; whereas Tier 3 exam is a skill test and typing test.

SSC has revised the exam pattern of Tier 2 exam and has included writing skill test in it.  Now candidates need to have a grip on writing skills in order to crack the Tier 2 exam of CHSL.

Key Changes made to CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern – Revised Pattern

We have prepared a table triggering the key changes that were made to the existing exam pattern of Tier 2 exam that has been followed by the commission up until now.  Because of this new exam pattern adopted by SSC, students also need to adopt new preparation tips.  The exam pattern directly effects the preparation of the students as most of the students study the syllabus depending on the exam pattern only.  All the candidates who got qualified in the Tier 1 exam and are getting ready to take Tier 2 exam must and should be aware of the exam patter of Tier 2 exam in order to make an effective preparation.

Here are the important changes that were made to SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam pattern.

• SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam will be known as Writing Skill Test
• The writing skill test will test the skills of candidates in essay, letter and application writing.
• SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam is a descriptive exam.
• Tier 3 will be a skill test/typing test.
• The minimum qualifying marks in SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam is 33.
• The time duration of SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam is one hour.
• The question paper of Tier 2 exam will be in Hindi/English.

The Tier 2 CHSL exam will contain Essay that should be written in 200 to 250 words and letter and application should be written in 150 to 200 words.

Advantages and disadvantages of revised pattern of SSC CHSL Exam

Advantages of revised exam pattern of SSC CHSL Exam

• There won’t be any negative marking in this revised pattern of SSC CHSL exam.
• Candidates who have good writing skills can make use of this opportunity thrown by SSC and show their writing skills in the exam to gain good score.
• Students can make a good score in this round and can easily qualify for the Tier 3.

Disadvantages of revised exam pattern of SSC CHSL Exam

• Candidates need to qualify Tier 2 exam with minimum qualifying marks of 33.
• As the exam is conducted for just one hour, candidates should be able to show their best front of writing in that one hour only.
• The application writing is 150 to 200 words and essay writing is 200 to 300 words which is difficult to be done in one hour time.
