India’s first atomic submarine INS Arihant breezes through remote ocean tests

Maritime Exercise IBSAMAR 2016 between India, Brazil, South Africa, commenced in Goa

• The fifth release of IBSAMAR 2016 trilateral maritime activity between Brazil, India and South Africa commenced in Goa. IBSAMAR is shortened as India-Brazil-South Africa Maritime.

Ex-CJI HL Dattu chose as new Chairman of NHRC

• Union Government has chosen previous Chief Justice of India (CJI) H L Dattu as new Chairman of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). He will succeed Mr. K.G. Balakrishnan who had demitted office after his five-year term finished in May 2015. From that point forward Justice C Joseph is working as the acting Chairman.
• He was chosen by the powerful board of trustees headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The board of trustees likewise included Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha P J Kurien and pioneer of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad. His name will be sent to the President Pranab Mukherjee for his endorsement.

Rare Falcated Duck located in Goa
