After being accused for not handling the two major uprisings in Gujarat well, Anandiben Patel on Facebook said that she would like to quit. The BJP has accepted her offer and is expected to announce her replacement tomorrow. She could be appointed as a governor.

Uber China Merges with Didi Chuxing
China’s Didi Chuxing and Uber have now both confirmed that Didi has agreed to buy Uber’s separate business in China. The deal according to a person familiar with the matter would value the combined company at $35 billion. Didi Chuxing is China’s leading taxi company and the service provider in the market with more than 85% stake. After the merger, Uber’s stake will be 5.89 % in Didi Chuxing.
Narsingh Yadav gets clean chit from NADA, allowed to Rio 2016 Olympics
The National Anti-Doping Association (NADA) on Monday gave clean chit to wrestler Narsingh Yadav in doping case and allowed him to participate in the Rio Olympics. The panel of the NADA said that the wrestler is a victim of sabotage as there is no fault and negligence on his part. The panel said that the wrestler deserves the benefit of article 10.4 of NADA’s anti-doping code.
5 dead as Russian helicopter shot down in Syria
A Russian helicopter was shot down Monday after delivering aid to the Syrian city of Aleppo, killing all five people on board. It was the biggest single loss of life for Russia in Syria since Russian warplanes started carrying out airstrikes in September 2015 in the country ravaged by war for five years.
Government lists GST Bill in Rajya Sabha for Wednesday
The GST Bill was listed for consideration and passage in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday amidst strong indications that the most far-reaching taxation reform in independent India would be supported by Congress and all other major political parties. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, which has been in the making for over a decade, entails introduction of a single indirect tax regime across the country.

RBI clears the decks for on-tap banking, bars big corporate
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued new licensing guidelines that aim to encourage non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) to turn themselves into full-fledged banks, restrict the country’s biggest conglomerates to a 10% stake in new lenders and bar state-run companies. The opening of the on-tap licensing window ticks one more item off Governor Raghuram Rajan’s to-do list before he ends his tenure next month.
