IAF Officer Eligibility Criteria and Physical Standards

IAF Officer Eligibility  Criteria and Physical Standards : Indian Air Force (IAF) every year recruits talented aspirants for various branches like flying, ground duty and technical branch.  Aspirants who have completed their 10+2/intermediate will be given jobs in Flying branch.  Engineering graduates have the opportunity to work in all the three branches.  Post graduates have the chance to work with ground duty branch and technical branch.  There are many positions in each of the three branches available.  Candidates need to take AFCAT exam or NDA/NA exam and qualify in the exam to enter into IAF.  Both men and women have wonderful career opportunities in IAF.

Physical Standards

Physical fitness is very important to join Air Force.  No matter which branch you are applying for you need to satisfy the physical standards set by IAF.

Common General Physical Requirements for all candidates

• Candidate must be in good physical and mental health. He should not be affected by any disease/have any disability as it will disturb the duties of the candidate. Candidate should be in right weight and there shouldn’t be any weaknesses.
• Candidates must satisfy both weight and height standards, which differ for men and women.
• The chest should be in right shape and size. The minimum size of the chest of the candidate should be 5 cm.
• There shouldn’t be any disease related to bones and joints.
• Candidate shouldn’t have a history of any mental breakdown or fits.
• The ear, nose and throat should be perfectly working without any evidence from the past disease.
• Candidate shouldn’t have any functional or organic disease of heart and blood vessels.
• There shouldn’t be any issues with blood pressure.
• The muscles of the abdomen should be well developed without any enlargement of the liver or spleen. Candidates who have such issues will not be considered for the job.
• Candidates with hernia are not eligible for selection. In case the hernia is operated, it should be at least six months from the examination and it should be completed healed without any signs by the time of examination.
• Candidate should not have hydrocele, varicocele or piles. In case if the candidate has suffered such, he should have been operated on it six months prior to the examination and should be completed healed without signs by the time of exam.
• Urine examination will be conducted on the candidates and if anything detected like infection or disease it would become the cause of rejection.
• Candidate suffering with any sort of skin disease that may cause disability or disfigurement may also become the cause of rejection.
• Candidates should have very good vision. In case if it found that candidate have undergone Radial Keratotomy or any such procedure to enhance vision, the candidate will be rejected without second thought.
• Candidates should have good number of natural and sound teeth. Candidates should have 14 dental points minimum.  Candidate should not suffer with severe pyorrhea.

Conditions women need to satisfy to work in AIF

• She should not have any acute or chronic pelvic infection.
• Should not suffer with sever menorrhagia
• Should not suffer with severe dysmenorrheal
• Complete prolapsed of uterus
• Pregnancy/amenorrhea
• Should not have any gynecological condition
